This year the exam pattern and syllabus for IBPS PO will see some changes from the previous year. Now, the IBPS PO exam will follow the same pattern as SBI PO exam. The Prelims will have 3 main sections- Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English Language.
The Prelims are scheduled for October 12, 13, 19, & 20, 2019 and it will be a 1-hour exam comprising of 100 questions. The Main exam will be conducted on November 30, 2019 where candidates will have to complete 155 questions in 3 hours.
It is essential to be aware of the syllabus and Exam pattern before appearing for the exam.Candidates must solve IBPS PO Sample papers and previous years’ questions papers.
IBPS PO Syllabus and Exam Pattern Changes
Certain changes were made in the IBPS PO Syllabus and Exam Pattern last year by the exam authorities. The new exam pattern will be modelled on the SBI PO exam. These changes are listed below:
A ‘Computer Aptitude’ Section has been clubbed with the Reasoning Ability section. Hence, there will be no separate section for ‘Computer Awareness’ as before.
‘Quantitative Aptitude’ has been renamed as ‘Data Interpretation & Analysis’
IBPS PO Syllabus 2019 for the Main Examination now includes an English descriptive paper which will assess the candidates’ writing skills. There will be 2 questions- Letter Writing and Essay Writing for a total of 25 marks. The time duration allotted would be 30 minutes.
The Main Examination will now have 155 questions instead of 200 questions.
The duration of the Main Examination has been increased to 3 hours which means that the difficulty level of the objective exam will be higher. Check the previous year sample Papers for a better idea of the IBPS PO Syllabus and exam pattern.
IBPS PO Prelims Syllabus
Marks scored in Prelims will not be taken into consideration while calculating the final merit of students. However, it is essential to clear this round to be eligible for the Main Exam.
The syllabus for this round includes three subjects- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. The prelims have sectional cutoff which implies that candidates must obtain the minimum qualifying marks in each section to clear the exam. Candidates must also meet the cutoff to qualify for Mains and the interview round.
IBPS PO Main Exam Syllabus
IBPS PO Main exam will be conducted on November 18, 2019. The exam includes 4 objective papers and 1 descriptive paper. Marks obtained in the Main Exam will be counted in the final IBPS PO Result.
The Syllabus for IBPS PO Main Exam includes 4 subjects- Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General Economy and Banking Awareness.
